In recent years, parasites have become more visible in the fish-farming sector causing huge damages to the farmed fish. To collect, identify, and find a remedy for parasites is one of the key issues in the fish-farming industry. This book “Checklist of Marine, Freshwater, and Aquarium Fish Parasites in Turkey” is, therefore, truly a great reference book most wanted due to such growing demands of the aquaculture industry.

The aquarium industry is also growing in Turkey, however, there is almost no appropriate reference book for aquarists. Due to a variety of reasons, such as climate change, an increasing number of parasite species has been observed in marine aquatic environment. This book will
fill the gap of parasitology in general in Turkey, particularly Turkish aquaculture industry and science.

I congratulate Prof. Ahmet ÖZER for his invaluable contribution to the parasitology, aquatic science and aquaculture industry.

As a head of Turkish Marine Research Foundation, I am proud of publishing this book to help scientists, conservation and fisheries community better understand parasites in our waters.
